On July 8th to 18th 2019, the Archives and Records Management Study Program Vocational College of Universitas Gadjah Mada received a visiting expert program from the Netherlands which was facilitated by Programma Uitzending Managers (PUM) and funded by World Class University. The request of experts was based on archival science problems in responding to digital challenges. Three problems to solve are the lack of knowledge in adapting from conventional archival management to electronic archival management, the lack of facilities to practicing media transform, the lack of cooperation between the Archival Study Program with the relevant unit especially for student exchange and internship in Netherland.
Based on the mentioned problem, Programma Uitzending Managers sent an expert named Danielle Kraakman, who works as a Knowledge Manager at PUM recently. Her area of expertise is digitalization, taxonomy, and document management. In two weeks during the cooperation with PUM, the Archival Program Study got:
a. Knowledge Sharing
After identifying the challenges in every class, the expert gave conceptual knowledge about using simple technology such as Image Composite Editor application and smartphone camera to reformatting. Besides, knowledge exchange also has gotten from the workshop on Friday, July 12th, 2019 which was attended by the students and archival practitioner from many kinds of government agencies in Yogyakarta;
b.Training
Simple training to make meme catalog and tweet also compiling database using Microsoft Office Access;
c.Corporation Initiation
The corporation initiation can use the link from Nuffic Nesso and Orange Knowledge Program. Besides, the Study Program could collaborate with Leiden University, the Archival Study Program, and UGM Library Unit.
