Webinar Events Talk #41 has a different topic from the previous WET. “Potential Escalation with Background Diversity” has become the main topic of this session. It was held with different times, Saturday, November 26th 2022 at 09.00 – 11.00 a.m (Jakarta Time) and Friday, November 25th 2022 at 09.00 – 11.00 p.m (New York Time). That is because this webinar invites the guest speaker from New York, USA, Ms. Yumarlin Rodriguez or usually called Ms. Yumi.
Ms. Yumi has many different amazing backgrounds and experiences. She is a muralist and a content creator at Gitler & ___ gallery, an anatomical illustration intern at The American Museum of Natural History, a licenced veterinary technician at SUNY College of Optometry, a visual neuroscience research technician, and an adjunct college lab technician at LaGiardia Community College Natural Sciences Department. She is also interested in Animal Care, Art, Biology, Cross-Species Empathy, Environmental Justice and Preservation, Local Community Action, and Visual Arts.
The webinar was opened by Novi Narita Sari as the MC (Master of Ceremony) and continued by Ratna Mardhika Sari as the Moderator who guided us in several sessions. The first session was delivered by Ms. Yumi brings her experiences, such as performing arts in social circus, and veterinary medicine. She also raised one of the mouse deer folklore from Indonesia, dongeng Kancil, in her presentation. From her talks, we get wider new knowledge about the folklore of Kancil that is connected with social issues.
The next session is from 3 group of UGM (Universitas Gadjah Mada) and 1 group of IKTL (Institut Keguruan dan Teknologi Larantuka) students. The group of UGM students brings 3 topics: Ethnic Student Dormitories; Recognizing People with Special Needs; and People, History, and Indische Memory. Meanwhile, the IKTL group brings the topic of Utilizing Soka Seleng Dance for Character Building Media.
Last session, the webinar was closed by Narita again. We hope that this webinar can give new knowledge for audiences and young people can develop their potential despite having different cultural backgrounds or experiences.
